James is a user experience designer and project lead. He connects business leaders and developers, driving teams to design the best solutions. James’ recent work includes design excellence for large organizations via consulting, standards and tools; and practical, effective design solutions for today’s multi-device landscape.
Among his other responsibilities at EightShapes, he curates Cisco’s well-established component library, InDesign documentation system, HTML prototyping framework and mobile app design standards. He consults on pattern and component libraries in government, industry and finance.
James’ portfolio demonstrates a breadth of user experience specialties, from responsive design to navigation schemes to search. He has been a researcher, a developer, a librarian and a project manager, but his first love has always been solving design problems.
James earned a Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from the University of Maryland. His previous experience includes design consulting for government, higher education and industry.
