Nathan and Dan started EightShapes to work on complex and meaningful projects. The opportunity to collaborate and challenge each other was a big part of it, too. We're pretty sure there are other people out there who would be fun to work with and who wouldn't mind working with us. We therefore present the EightReasons to consider EightShapes your employer:

  1. We know you like projects that have clearly defined objectives and boundaries, and we build these into every statement of work.
  2. We believe that hard work, quality outputs, and keeping customers happy should be rewarded.
  3. We like the ideas behind user-centered design, but we're not dogmatic about it.
  4. In fact, you'll find there's very little we're dogmatic about. We do appreciate, however, a thoughtful and sensitive approach to communications, whether on paper, online, or in person.
  5. New technologies do not solve old business problems just because they're new. That's not really a reason, it's just something we like to say.
  6. We're trying to avoid the mistakes made by all our former employers.
  7. We seek out projects that will challenge us and clients that share our values.
  8. Whether your interests are in electronic or bluegrass music, cycling or comics, linguistics or the American Revolution, you'll find someone at EightShapes who's willing to talk about just about anything.

So, if you can...

  • Create meaningful and actionable user experience documentation, like wireframes, flows, and site maps
  • Develop user models by planning and conducting user research and usability testing
  • Design gorgeous interfaces that are relevant to business context and sensitive to target audiences
  • Organize the heck out of gobs of content
  • Or, build standards-compliant web interfaces with XHTML, CSS, Javascript and other AJAX technologies

...and have the portfolio to prove it, you should really contact us.
